A Hyper-Nike! Thats what we are according to Darrell Robinson. Taken from Romans 8:37, the Greek word hupernikomen means the same thing as the five English words we are more than conquerors.

Thats what our attitude toward talking to others about Christ should be, Robinson urges in People Sharing Jesusnot that we are out to conquer people, but the barriers that keep us from being more vocal about Christ and His love for all people. Filled with practical, contemporary advice for becoming a more effective and vocal Christian, the book openly discusses what gets in the way of Christians living a lifestyle of active evangelism and how to overcome those obstacles. You have not really witnessed, says Robinson, until you have shared Jesus. The more than conquerors theme propels the focus of the book, as the author presents his three basic underlying premises:

  • You have been empowered to share Jesus.

  • You have been entrusted to share Jesuswith people.

  • You can be equipped to share Jesus.

In contrast to evangelism plans that rely on memorized patterns (message-centered sharing), Robinson encourages person-centered sharing, which relies on listening to someones story and needs before telling that person about Christ in a non-threatening, non-confrontational manner. Even so, he warns, taking a conversation intentionally into this level still requires that we go a step beyond our comfort levels. We have to move to the point where we have no choice but to depend on God to do His work of drawing the person to Him.

Robinson closes by reminding readers that personal evangelism is a lifestyle, not an event or a program.

It should be the norm for our lives. Everyday we come into contact with many people who need to know Christ. By following Robinsons advice, we can be better prepared to open our mouths and get involved in what Christ has called us to do.
