  • Articulate arguments for the truth of Christianity

  • Great resource to give a seeker

Reasons for Believing: A Seekers Guide to Christianity
By Frank Harber
New Leaf Press
1998
184 pages

In this well-reasoned defense of Christianity, Harber takes seekers through a coherent discussion of the believability of the Christian faith. Employing logic and linear reasoning, he leads readers on a step-by-step examination of the claims of Christianity and demonstrates that faith does not need to be unreasoned but can and should be rational and defensible.

Beginning with arguments for the existence of God based on creation, Harber compares the creation and evolution models and argues that divine creation is a more believable option. In this chapter, and throughout the book, he observes that a rejection of God is rooted in moral rebellion rather than intellectual difficulties. After presenting conclusive evidence that God exists, Harber tackles the veracity of scripture and then moves on to the claims of Jesus Christ. Acknowledging that Jesus claim to be the only way is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to skeptics of Christianity, Harber shows how even this exclusive statement must be true.

This is an excellent book for sharing with an honest seeker who is struggling with intellectual questions. Although the lack of any sense of story may limit this books effectiveness for the millennial generation, it is a useful apologetic for the claims of the Christian faith.
