BY JAMI BECHER
Meet eight of more than 5,200 missionaries who have sensed God's call on
their lives and are living with urgency every day so that all peoples of North
America will come to know Jesus Christ. During the Week of Prayer for North
American Missions, March 2-9, pray for these missionaries and consider how you
can impact their work through your prayers, giving, and going in this urgent
task to which God has called us.
ACTS
1:8 CHALLENGE: IT'S A GOD THING
BY TIM YARBROUGH
Call it a gathering storm. Like a tornado that slowly builds in strength
before its final fury, churches across the Southern Baptist Convention are
rethinking what it means to be on mission in the diverse cultural
landscape of the 21st century.
WHEN
DISASTER STRIKES
BY MEREDITH DAY
October 21, 2007, will always be remembered as a day of urgency in San
Diego. Breaking news of quickly spreading wildfires. The smell of smoke and
clouds of ash hanging over the county. More than half a million people
displaced from their homes, 1,600 homes destroyed with thousands more damaged,
and $700 million in property and acreage lost. At a time when everything seemed
unsure, Southern Baptist pastors like Gunnar Hanson in Valley Center,
California, called their churches to stand firm in God's promise of
provision.
